The Procedure

The Edge CO2 laser distributes thermal energy into the upper layers of the skin using a pattern of laser light. This causes minuscule perforations, leaving the surrounding skin unblemished. The deep heating stimulates the collagen to contract and remodel. Resulting in smoother, more supple skin for an overall youthful appearance. The resurfacing procedure lasts 30 minutes and is accompanied by a topical anesthetic to increase patient comfort. Skin during and after the procedure may feel warm, similar to a sunburn, this may continue for a few days. Peeling may also occur, making way for new youthful skin to appear. A strict skin regimen may be needed to ensure proper recovery. Additional hydration and protection from the sun will be needed during the days following the treatment.
